My first non Hip Hop purchase so must be 1989/1990.
Such a monumental album in so many ways.
Bought for the samples that my fav artists had used but fell in love with the whole thing.
It opened my eyes and for the next 5 or so years I was a Soul, Funk, Jazz Funk, Acid Jazz boy. Got me through the Brit Pop era unscathed.

PS I did like Suede, Pulp, My Life Story, Dubstar at the time btw....just not the 'Big Two' and their tired Slade/Status Quo/Kinks/Anthony Newley pastiches.....and the legion of laddish soundalikes that followed.
