I played some of the ninja turtles roguelike with the kids earlier. Maybe not a huge surprise from me, the roguedislike, but imo it's not a super fun experience.
You go on "runs", which are basically infinite series of increasingly difficult enemy battle rooms, with shops and boss fights sprinkled in. Between runs there is metaprogression. There are a ton of run-specific microupgrades, but how these work is that each player takes turns navigating through a fullscreen menu, meaning that every room is maybe 60 seconds of gameplay and 5-10 minutes of waiting for other people to pick their upgrades. There are light story elements, but these seem to mostly consist of various minor side characters saying a bunch of irrelevant stuff to give each turtle a chance to riff on them in their own style.
The combat itself, the primary game mechanic, is not super fulfilling, it's mainly about mashing the attack button and pushing dodge whenever an enemy attack area indicator appears.
