High tide on Sunderland's seafront and it is undeniably quite mesmerising watching the waves splashing up from the seafront promenade.
Those in the know keep a respectable distance, those not in the know will probably get a soaking.

It's something of a springtime showstopper – the annual explosion of springtime cherry blossom, pictured this afternoon in Grangetown, Sunderland, NE England.
A spectacle that seems to attract more and more people every year, eager to capture the all-to-fleeting vibrancy of colour.
