By Sunday afternoon, I start to maybe feel like a human being. And then the Sunday scaries kick in and I'm dreading Monday.

So the AI project that I worked on has been in beta for the last month to gauge user-adoption and feedback. Tomorrow, they're turning it off and starting to charge for it, so I'm expecting there to be a huge drop-off in usage once people have to actually start paying for it.

And of course, the amount they're charging is so ludicrously over-inflated because all they see is $$$ and are looking to use this feature to make up some budget short-fall. Any customer that agrees to this charge has to know they're getting fleeced, but it'll definitely be interesting to see who recognizes it for what it is and says no.

It's the people that just accept it and pay it that concern me. I hate the fact that I'm tied to this project that is purely for the sake of the investors, but I hate even more the customers that will perpetuate this nonsense by paying for it, thereby buying into this whole "don't get left behind" bullshit.

I would rather see this project fail solely on the grounds of price rather than have it succeed knowing that it's nothing more than a cash grab, pure and simple.

Tomorrow's gonna be the most Monday that ever Mondayed a Monday, I'll bet. So excited to return to work!

Sitting here trying to guesstimate when I'll get fired from my current corpo wageslave gig because I "no longer align with the direction of the company" as the board and investors continue to push for more and more "AI" involvement in product development in order to accelerate it faster and faster to meet ever-shrinking and arbitrary deadlines.

Wondering when I'm going to be considered archaic enough to be replaced, and how much time I want to invest in becoming a prompt engineer or vibe coder in order to stave that off.

Was asked last week to help brainstorm "how can we get more AI into our daily workflow to accelerate development even faster?" because the investors wanted it, not because it's good for the company.

Going to an internal "AI Summit" this week to talk about how we can "AI" the shit out of our new project and basically churn out an expert system as fast as possible instead of doing it right (which will likely take years to do).

Makes me wonder how many days I have left at this company, for various reasons on both sides of the fence. It makes me feel dirty because it seems to be being done for every single wrong reason there is.

It's the fear of being unemployed (and likely uninsured) for another 2 years under this increasingly broken system that drives me at this point. I am getting old and at this point am an unwilling rider on this bullet train to ruin.
