Morning Update and Operational Video:

The fire is 5,712 acres and 55% completed.

Nevada Team 1 (Powell) officially assumed command of the #Beulah Fire. The incoming team received a full briefing on actions completed by firefighters under Great Basin Team 4. Nevada Team 1 would like to thank Great Basin Team 4 for an excellent transition.

Yesterday’s rainfall and cloud cover helped moderate fire activity, with most activity limited to smoldering (a slow, low-intensity burn with little flame) and creeping (a gradual spread along surface vegetation). Beginning today, the chance of thunderstorms and rain will increase through the week, bringing both moisture and the potential for gusty, shifting winds. Crews will be actively looking out for any increase in fire activity.

Firefighters will continue working in the East Fork drainage of the Bear River, securing firelines (strengthening barriers to keep the fire within control boundaries), mopping up (extinguishing hot spots to prevent flare-ups), and gridding (systematically searching for embers or spot fires outside the main line). They are also improving line along Tokewanna Ridge toward the East Fork fire scar and monitoring a spot fire above the West Fork drainage. Along North Slope Road, crews and masticators continue clearing fuels and preparing a strong contingency line.
