Picked the first watermelon the other day. It was the one that first set this spring. The tendril was dry, the previous and past tendril was dry and brown, the yellow spot looked good, and it was just a little bit red inside and had no taste other than textured water. 🤣

Plenty more to pick in the coming days. The chickens don't let them go to waste, the 11 year old Australorp likes them.

Some eggplants have grown beyond the calyx, the yellow summer squash shown was harvested today, and the biggest watermelon is still growing fast.

Watermelon, cucumber, tomatillo, and Amish paste tomato update.

There are lots of the sugar baby watermelon that had successful pollination. The first cucumber is growing and the tomatillo have rapidly expanding husks. The Amish paste tomato has set more fruit and they look to be the correct shape unlike the early ones that set.

Melon update. I've seen the bees working the blossoms a little bit, or one bee. The hexagon bed is slowly filling up with vines. There are some little baby watermelon but the first ones usually aren't pollinated. Another raised bed has appeared...

We currently have honey delights, black cherries, our first black brandywine, and gladiator tomatoes, two sugar babies, and a honey nut! Our shishito is the first to start blooming.

A couple days ago, they all got plant food. Today they all got Epsom salts.
