Reviewing the eleventy billion car notes I took during my #SueWalkstheEarth roadtrip (for the novel that I'm taking forever to write) and Car Notes Sue was not holding back:

"Nature is “the commons” but conservatives act like it belongs to them."

9) ...but I will do more than triage.

I heard on a podcast while on #SueWalkstheEarth that we can think of social change as the 3 Ts: Triage, Transition, and Transformation.

We need all these kinds of work.

Handing out covid tests to keep them from being destroyed is triage work...

One thing the #SueWalkstheEarth epic roadtrip taught me—besides that it's 100% worth bringing your own tea kettle—is the power of wrenching yourself away from the constant drip of horribles and engaging in positive work, a *lot* of positive work, like way more than you think reasonable.

I put 9000 miles on the car, not the shoes, but they sure show the trip. #SueWalkstheEarth
Was only in Canada ~3 weeks but still feels weird to be back. And reaching the end of this #SueWalkstheEarth trip.

Weird to be back in the US tbh

US Border Patrol was surprisingly friendly. No checkpoint inspections. Border patrol *less* kitted out than I’ve seen crossing the border in the past (10+ years ago)—no long guns,no visible guns at all…

On this penultimate day of #SueWalkstheEarth, I've traveled 8600 miles across the US and Canada (with another 400 to go), and it's inspired a thousand thoughts, a hundred mini-adventures, and has just been everything I'd hoped for.

Me: Where can I find a good butter tart? I want to take some home to my husband, when I leave Canada on Monday.

Friend: The Home Hardware store!

Me: ...
Me: ...
Me: Okay

👀Not only does the hardware store have butter tarts, they're *award winning* butter tarts. I loaded up.

So I always like to get a picture when I first meetup with a friend, just because I'll get chatty and forget, so I have a perfectly acceptable shot of me and @vlrny getting ready to go for a walk... but then I took one in the forest where we're amidst the glory of Canadian natural beauty and IT IS SO MUCH BETTER.

So much joy. Thank you, Valerie for sharing your forest and your beautiful soul with me today! 😍

Had a wonderful time meeting @johannab on my #SueWalkstheEarth tour of SW Ontario... one of the best parts of this whole trip is turning online friends into "real-life" friends 😍
