We are starting to see anti-vaxx grifters use the fraudulent documentary #DiedSuddenly to push the myth that #COVID #vaccines cause #SuddenCardiacDeath.

Their claim: no one died suddenly before COVID vaccines.

Fact: In Canada in 2019, 40,000 people suffered sudden cardiac arrest outside of hospital & 90% died.

That's 36,000 deaths in 1 country, before COVID19.

Fact: COVID increases the risk of #arrhythmias, which are a major cause of sudden cardiac death. Vaccines do not.

Not true. When you read articles that make this claim, their definition of "athlete" is broad, including officials, people doing regular exercise, & retired athletes.

Second, most reported cases in the media contain no information about vaccination & several occurred before vaccines were even available. Many also mention a previous COVID infection, which is linked to sudden cardiac death.

1. Athletes never died suddenly.

Not true. Sudden cardiac death has long been a leading cause of death, even in elite athletes. We knew this before the pandemic. As someone who teaches #cardiology, I've dedicated a whole lecture to this for over a decade. This is not new.
