VulkanVulkan has completely revamped the Vulkan subsystem with the release of the VK_EXT_descriptor_heap extension. In this blog, Vulkan Strategy Officer, Tobias Hector, explains how the new extension fundamentally changes how Vulkan applications interact with descriptors. The working group is looking for feedback before making it part of the core specification.

The Windows Subsystem for Linux is now open source
Today we’re very excited to announce the open-source release of the Windows Subsystem for Linux. This is the result of a multiyear effort to prepare for this, and a great closure to the first ever issue raised on the Microsoft/WSL repo:

Though I’m sad wallpaper engine isn’t on the nix repo. Also sad doing docker is a pain I just want to run distrobox 
but that is for a different rant.
Some things aren’t in there and I don’t really understand the builder yet but hopefully one day.

Microsoft hat für das kommende Jahr eigentlich das Ende des Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA) in Aussicht gestellt. Damit ist es noch möglich, Android-Apps fast wie native Anwendungen unter Windows laufen zu lassen. Zumindest in China lebt das WSA aber wohl weiter.
