Feedback from an avatar facilitates risk-taking by modulating the amygdala response to feedback uncertainty

How does our brain process interactions with an avatar compared to real human being? This study shows that feedback from an avatar increases risk-taking behavior in humans and is associated with lower activity in the amygdala.

#Dopamine modulates activity of striatal neurons via G proteins, but how is this signaling modulated? This study shows in vivo that the G protein modifier KCTD5 regulates G proteins in the #striatum and coordinates motor control via cAMP signaling @PLOSBiology https://plos.io/4jIiYr4
The G protein modifier KCTD5 tunes the decoding of neuromodulatory signals necessary for motor function in striatal neurons

Dopamine modulates activity of striatal neurons via G proteins, but how this signaling is modulated by G protein modifiers in vivo is not clear. This behavioral and neuroimaging study shows in vivo that the G protein modifier KCTD5 regulates G proteins in the striatum and coordinates motor control via cAMP signaling.

#IINSPhD🧑‍🎓 Paul Lapios, PhD student in David Perrais' team, #MemTraS, defends his thesis: “Ultrastructural and molecular analysis of cortico-striatal dopamine hub synapses”

At #Fens2024 tomorrow (Wednesday 26/June) - Check out our poster comparing how representations change in #hippocampus, dorsolateral #striatum, and #prefrontal cortex in rats making decisions as environmental complexity changes.

Some really cool results looking at interactions between decision-making systems!

I'm actually really glad for this surprise ❄️ #Sneachta ❄️ day.

Some comments are putting #MetEireann on the defensive, but I really enjoy the reminder that we do not control everything. We don't know everything. There is room for unpredictability.

Sure, it can be a little scary, but it's a good exercise to get out of our collective comfort zone. The #ICCA says #ClimateChange is here; plan for more bumps on the road.

Check out this #NeuroPreprint thread about phase-dependent excitability in the #Striatum! Really exciting (😁) work by my colleague @manishm in the #vanDerMeerLab ⬇️

In a new pre-print (https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2024.02.01.578473v1), Eric Carmichael, Matt van der Meer and I find evidence that excitability in the mouse striatum varies according to the striatal LFP phase. Read on to find out why we think it’s important - 🧵 1/N
