Strega Nona has been one of my favorite #KidLit characters since I was small. She lives with Bambolona & Big Anthony. Everyone assumes they are Strega Nona’s kids, but they meet & form a family over many books. I love this example of a Family of Choice, aka Found Family

The classic children's book "Strega Nona" was banned for portraying magic and witchcraft in a positive light. Earlier this year, the USPS celebrated author Tomie dePaola by featuring his character Strega Nona on a stamp.
