"Every wall that I'm offered I do a Google Street View walk around the area to try and see the building from every angle to see the sort of colors there are there." 2024 video interview (3m21s) https://youtu.be/TAtvfkfnXKQ?si=wpR-uZOZavKll6Xl

"It wasn't until I started painting six or seven days a week that I saw my capabilities become a lot greater. .... Without painting as much as I did, I wouldn't be able to do what I'm trying to achieve right now. I guess my biggest advice would be to paint as much as you can. Don't get caught up on this social media thing. Just ignore that stuff. Just have fun with it, but work harder."

Ngā wai o te ata hāpara (The waters of the morning breeze)
This mural acknowledges the many rangatira (chiefs / leaders / people of high rank) / tohunga (experts / skilled people / wise people) that gather around neutral grounds / waters to discuss, exchange and impart kōrero (talks / stories / discussion) and mātauranga (knowledge / education / wisdom) to our next generation that sit within the water.
The image depicts a range of manu (birds) tui (tūī — a native New Zealand bird) gathering around a tīheru (traditional bailer-/container/wooden vessel) that holds the sacred waters of Waitematā. The streams of water that overflow and trickle down the sides acknowledge the many old rivers that are located below the city that return to te moana (the ocean / sea). The symbolism of the tīheru is to remind ourselves and these rangatira / tohunga that no matter how big or small your role or duty is, it's an important task nonetheless.
"Water cannot be removed from the waka (canoe / boat) without the existence of tīheru"Tīheru were once given names of tūpuna (ancestors) to bestow the importance and significance to that which would be seen as small and insignificant. The underlying kōrero (message / story / discourse) that this mural addresses is the effects of climate change and how we can gather around to discuss the changes on the horizon and how we can better prepare our rangatahi (younger generation / youth) for the future to come.' @techs_x May 14, 2023 with explanation added for Maori terms.

'Quincy Delight Jones Jr. (March 14, 1933 – November 3, 2024) was an American record producer, composer, arranger, conductor, trumpeter, and bandleader. During his seven-decade career, he received dozens of accolades, including 28 Grammy Awards, a Primetime Emmy Award, and a Tony Award as well as nominations for seven Academy Awards and four Golden Globe Awards.

Jones came to prominence in the 1950s as a jazz arranger and conductor before producing pop hit records for Lesley Gore in the early 1960s (including "It's My Party") and serving as an arranger and conductor for several collaborations between Frank Sinatra and the jazz artist Count Basie. Jones produced three of the most successful albums by Michael Jackson: Off the Wall (1979), Thriller (1982), and Bad (1987). In 1985, Jones produced and conducted the charity song "We Are the World", which raised funds for victims of famine in Ethiopia.'
