Here is how your music subscription currently works. You pay. Your money goes into a pool with everyone else's money. The platform takes 30%. The remaining pool is divided among all rights holders in proportion to their share of total global streams.

If you listen exclusively to independent Australian musicians, your subscription is still subsidising the artists who dominate the global stream count. You have no meaningful say in who your money reaches.

The user-centric model works differently: your subscription goes to the artists you actually listen to. The Pack's 1:1 model is this written into cooperative governance - not a policy subject to revision when major rights holders push back, or when shareholders decide they deserve a bigger slice of the pie.

We don't think this is a difficult decision. It's just a different decision about whose interests the platform was designed to serve. We think it should be musicians, not billionaire tech-bros.

"The term fake artists doesn’t really do justice to the scope of the situation—because, as we have seen, it’s not the musicians, real or otherwise, who are at the root of the situation, but the dominant players in the industry."—Ted Gioia >
