Strawberry Switchblade on the cover of Jackie, 16 May 1985.

Jackie was a hugely popular British weekly magazine aimed at girls in their early teens, with circulation of well over half a million at its peak. It featured pop music, beauty tips, romance photo stories & problem pages.

The band were promoting their single Who Knows What Love Is & as the average age of a British singles buyer was 13, teen mags were the place to be.

Strawberry Switchblade on kids TV show Wide Awake Club, March 1985. In honour of the Oxford v Cambridge boat race they're trying to make something that looks vaguely like a rowing boat. It's a swiss roll with ice cream & plastic spoons pushed into it.

And as Strawberry Switchblade are assisting, strawberries are used to approximate the rowers. Asked if they're any good at cooking, Jill's sarcastic 'really good' reply is hilarious.

It's #cassunday, & as we celebrate the 40th anniversary of Strawberry Switchblade's album this week, here's the Japanese cassette.

Japanese releases were so lavish - the vinyl came with an OBI strip, booklet & poster. This cassette, despite the size restrictions, had a fold out leaflet of info & lyrics, & even a micro poster!

Happy World Piano Day! Here's Strawberry Switchblade treating a piano in a way that few pianists would permit.

(One's a proper print, the other three are little test prints hence the sketchier quality)

Happy birthday to Robin Millar! Perhaps best known for his production work with Sade & Fine Young Cannibals, he was the original choice for the Strawberry Switchblade album.

2 tracks were recorded with the guitar-based backing band that had been on the road.

Jill with Lucinda Sieger in 1987, a year after Strawberry Switchblade.

Lucinda: 'The dress was designed for my degree show and musical I did for the Barbican Foyer. Jill did my makeup. She was always doing this for me when needed because she is brilliant at makeup.'

Jill's in an Artists Against Apartheid T shirt from her time in Strawberry Switchblade.

Thanks to Lucinda for sharing.
