Retour au #Chili, par la route puis en traversant à nouveau le #DétroitDeMagellan.

Je vais à #PuntaArenas, la plus grande ville chilienne de cet endroit du monde.
Je commence à toucher du doigt le mythe de la Patagonie, telle qu'elle est décrite par #FranciscoColoane. Une de ses nouvelles met en scène des marins, alcoolisés, un bar, une tempête de neige, et le cimetière de Punta Arenas. Je le visite, et vois le quartier croate... on y est !

Originally, the Selk’nam did not have flags, but this one was created by children and women at the #Salesianmission on #DawsonIsland. The Selk’nam believed that when they died, they became stars. Maria Margarita Vasquez Chogue (Pilar), on the banks of the #straitofMagellan.
She holds the #Selknam flag and raises her fist as a sign of struggle and resistance

Some #TravelPhotography from #OnThisDay in 2016, and this photo is from our approach along the Strait of Magellan to #Chile for the first time. We would be spending the day in Punta Arenas, hitting an open air museum, visiting the impressive cemetery, and having a general walk around the nice but not exceptional city.
