Irish Minister for #Transport Darragh O’Brien met with Derry City and #Strabane District Council and City of Derry Airport management to discuss progress on establishing a Public Service Obligation (PSO) air service between #Dublin and #Derry airports. This is part of the shared Island commitment in the Programme for Government to enhance connectivity. Preparatory work is underway, with services expected to start in late 2026 after a procurement process. The Department of Transport is coordinating with the Shared Island Unit, Northern Ireland’s Department for the Economy, #UK Department for Transport, and the #European Commission on State aid matters. A Market Sounding Exercise is planned to assess service needs. Attendees included government officials and airport leaders.
