May 20th: New family, medical updates, vegetable parcels and more!
"Speaking of distributions, we surprised the ground team and camp residents with vegetables parcels. Gaza is in a famine and most have not tasted fresh food in a long while. Flour and rice are incredibly hard to come by and vegetables prices have skyrocketed. Our team does a lot of manual labor and our camp residents are among the sick and injured that need healing. They needed something nutritious. We purchased 70 bags filled with an assortment of veggies, 25 for our camp and the rest for our team in the North and South. The deal we negotiated was half cash (35% commission) and half bank transfer (10% commision), 5,135 shekels each payment costing a total of $3,575 and an additional $154 for labor."

The Refaat Alareer Camp x The Sameer Project
The Sameer Project, a mutual aid organization led by three Palestinians in the diaspora, are the proud directors and funders of three tent encampments in Central Gaza that provides shelter and specialized support to displaced families who have critical medical issues. Our first is called The Refaat Alareer Camp and since its opening in June 2024, we have subsiquently opened two more medical camps called Batool Camp and Sawarha Camp, both also in Central Gaza.

Last update from Yasmeen, Moataz and their children: "Your support is needed now more than ever! Two months without any food entering Gaza and what little remains is expensive and often expired causing the family to be sick. Medicine is also becoming increasingly difficult or impossible to find.
We must continue to show up for Palestinians who are beyond exhausted! In April, the family was able to buy a battery and Moataz got new glasses. Ahmed also turned 5 years old and because of your support he enrolled in kindergarten classes.
