Mastodon.. is it going to be better than Meta? I hope so.
I posted uncensored, non-sexual images of women's nipples #FreeTheNipple because it's fine to post non-sexual images of male bodies, showing nipples, without censorship or a CW.
I've been given a warning and a CW has been added to my posts. I've appealed saying -
"It is not considered sensitive to post non-sexual images of men's nipples, so why is it sensitive to post non-sexual images of women's nipples?
There has been a campaign in FB and Instagram for years to overturn their sexist approach to controlling women's bodies. The approach is sexist and linked to the objectification of women's bodies. That implies that women's nipples are always sexual, while those of men are not.
I hope Mastodon will be better."
For me and many other people this is all about the nature of the objectification of bodies and how women's and men's bodies are sexualised in different ways. This is demonstrated by the absurdity of how they treat post gender reassignment surgery. If someone with breasts has them removed, their breastless chests with reconstructed nipples are treated as no issue. If someone has breasts created, they cease to be ok if they have nipples added - fine without the nipples!
I hope Mastodon will support a more appropriate way to treat women's bodies.

Do you think we should be able to post non-sexual images of women's nipples without a warning?
