OMG, I would've played this one first given the below description, but it was nearly at the end (i.e., top) of tQ list - with good reason!

"...often resembles This Heat...and Tilt-era Scott Walker. The pitch-black industrial drumming and fractious guitar clangs elicit the measured brutality of Swans and the totalism of Glenn Branca, underpinned by the metallic hypnosis of New York no wave group Ut...comparable to a no-wave D’Angelo or Lauryn Hill."

“The three players get more or less equal weight in the mix, as they cut and jibe and contest each other. These are not so much songs as three instrument pileups, but the way they clash is riveting.” #StillHousePlants #Music

Still House Plants : If I Don’t Make It, I Love U : Aquarium Drunkard

Still House Plants filters torch blues through a cracked mirror, floating polysyllabic jazz singer melisma over clanging, clattering noise abstractions. It sounds like the most irregular sort of post-rock—U.S. Maple or Slint—with a Billie Holiday aficionado along for the ride, or perhaps like Circuit Des Yeux doing a guest shot with Black Midi. Let us stipulate right now that Still House Plants will not be to everyone’s taste, but you have to hear it. This is a band absolutely carving its own swath through music.
