Jon SullivanHere's a stick, with eyes, that my mother-in-law found in her garden.
I just posted my photos of it to iNaturalist. It's the NZ endemic stick insect species *Acanthoxyla inermis*.
This is also one of three NZ stick insect species that have been accidentally established in the UK.
No male of *Acanthoxyla inermis* had been found in NZ and the species was thought to be entirely made up of parthenogenetically reproducing females. That is, until a male was found in the UK in 2018.

I started this little project of merging photographs to make instagram seamless carousels, but photoshop skills aren't exactly my strengh, I'm learning as I try to piece the pictures together. Maybe eventually I'll see them in a big fricking frame on the wall ๐

A Stick Insect, Presbistus peleus, spotted at Dairy Farm Nature Park, Singapore, along the Wallace Trail, on 17 June 2024. Looked like a twig stuck to the leaf, but decided to have a closer look and saw what it was.
Stick Insects are, of course, a master of disguise and usually only move when necessary. So, spotting one is never easy.
