Steven Black's hosts blocklist has been removed from uBlock Origin Lite. This change will take effect in the next update.

https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/commit/8d9832b4d617b2e616ba0e5091137db4ae5dcc1b

The commit removing it cited an issue thread where a user complained uBlock Origin Lite was breaking stripchat.com, a pornography website.
I have confirmed Steven Black's list contains a filter blocking the domain stripchat.com

A comment in the HOSTS file states the entry was "Added April 28, 2023".
In an issue thread from 2025, the maintainer explained the reasoning behind blocklisting it:

The domain stripchat.com isn't just porn. It's also a pop-over and pop-under site that appears in many contexts, typically porn but not exclusively.

As such, it's just like LiveJasmine an others which we include in our regular list because it's also adware. And annoying.

https://github.com/StevenBlack/hosts/issues/2850

In an issue thread from two weeks ago concerning breakage on theweathernetwork.com which was cited in the stripchat thread, mapx stated the maintainer was unresponsive to messages on an internal discussion platform.

https://github.com/uBlockOrigin/uAssets/issues/31670

Messages in an internal discussion platform show Ryan Brown and an AdGuard employee were informed about breakage on theweathernetwork.com caused by their lists respectively. However, I have been unable to locate the messages referenced by mapx. It is possible they were sent through private messaging, on another platform, or the message is not being returned by my searches.
As such, while I do not believe mapx is lying, I have been unable to verify this claim.

Due to the lack of granularity in DNS level blocklists, it is not possible to unblock a domain only for a specific website, or only block specific URLs on a domain.
According to an issue thread from 2021, the domain in question - assets-jpcust.jwpsrv.com - is used for serving both advertisements and legitimate content.

Steven Black's list was first added to uBlock Origin Lite in 2022. It is not included in uBlock Origin.

It doesn’t matter if listing a domain interferes with fundraising by the Holy Sisters relict of Mother Theresa of Calcutta. If the domain vehicles tracking, adware, or worse, it gets listed here. This project serves people who value privacy and online safety.

Today I had a weird question I choose to make a long response to, as it concerned one of the biggest #blacklist hoax today; #StevenBlack's blacklists.

My reply became this:

DO NOT trust or believe anything around StevenBlack and his project. The majority of people there, DO NOT know what they are doing and SB don't understand RFC:952 & RFC:953, so how can he maintain a list that is meant to support RFC:952? ALSO and here is the big fish 🐟, if something is "breaking" something else, it is removed, whitelisted (sorry allowlisted), regardless how devastating it is for IE. Privacy or tracking in general. For example do you find any of the biggest spyware producer google.com or maps.google.com on any of his blacklists? nope, there are on his whitelist. You can't trust his project, even he blames to, he is protecting people from just this, then the reality is, it is the opposed that is happening, ands everybody is exposed for #spyware, #Tracking and #adware from #bigtech. The truth is also, he are not doing any work by him self, everything is dome by others, check for your self, he has never been writing any of the code, that is done by people like @funilrys and me (not any more as he has blocked me, after I reveled he does nothing by him self and don't understand RFC:952). You can also notice, he don't like I spotted in a issue at https://github.com/clefspeare13/pornhosts that he know nothing about RFC:952 as he clearly do not understand the difference between example.com & www.example.com, by see he excluded the best maintained and precise #porn lists from his project: StevenBlack/hosts@1c9548a and stole the source code from my project after clefspeare13 handed over the project tp My Privacy DNS. It is also a fact that StevenBlack kept steeling from my work at My Privacy DNS, by using @Sinfonietta as proxy for "importing" my work into his project; yes that lists of CopyRight violation against those two, are very very long and many reports have been send to #GH The answer to your question False positive and false negative? regarding SB's #hosts lists vs hos statement about the project is... false negative's in a bunch, as it completely fails to protect users against anything useful.
