I've just realised Stephen Poliakoff's drama Shooting The Past is on BBC4 tonight.

I saw it first time around, twenty five years ago - and back then thought it was one of the best things I'd seen on tv, *ever*.

It's about photography, history, politics, all sorts of things. And it had a brilliant cast!

Part 1 is live now and will be on iPlayer later; here's a link to part 2.

"It's not always a good place to go, Michael: the past."

Classical Stephen Poliakoff emotions in his 2009 film "Glorious 39", about 1939 politics, war, class, race and family.

The quoted line is spoken in the deepest bass by the wonderful Christopher Lee. Solid acting all round in this fine film, from Romola Garai, Bill Nighy, many other excellent actors.

Currently on BBC iPlayer, if you have access.
