Ah, a new Stephanie Sterling video is always welcome...Even though it's fairly grim, Steph has described the latest YouTube bullshit community guideline and it's subjective enforcement on their videos. The ones that are ripping gambling apart (not promoting them like YouTube's bots are claiming).
Thus empowering the peddlers of gambling products, but never refer to it as gambling directly. Since the powerful criticism from Steph, undermines their bottom line.
In a way, I am glad that I never bothered with going into content creation (on YouTube or Twitch), if I ever do...It will probably be done independently as a possible.
As I don't want to mince words with cutesy euphemisms, as that only empowers fascists, criminals, etc. Words have power, and we can't let our power be stripped away from us.
As always, Thank God for Stephanie Sterling, a Cassandra of the Modern Age!

James Stephanie Sterling returns to YouTube with the greatest description of "AI" in the universe.

Ah, it's a good day when Stephanie Sterling returns from their sabbatical from content creation and drops a banger of a video! It's about mocking and explaining the mindset of the Execucult and their worship of a non-existent God (AI).
Watching this video before bed, thank God for them!
Granted, #Valve ain't saints - far from it!
Or as #StephanieSterling would likely word it:
Either way, I've to give Valve credit where it is due, and admit that so far their hardware by all accounts was in fact solid and not restrictive.
It is James Stephanie Sterling, a fool for you to enjoy! Among the longest standing critics of game industry business practices, particularly excessive monetization such as microtransactions and loot boxes. Owner of Boglins, POGs, and a Cornflakes Homunculus. A writer for Vampire Survivors, a pro wrestler, all with big boobus to boot! Crowdfunded on Patreon, and dipped in milk.
This video voices a lot of my frustrations with #YouTube. I’ve wanted to jump ship for years and I’ve been trying to find alternatives like #PeerTube… the main barrier for me is the price of storage.
I have over 800GB of videos on my YT channel currently, which far exceeds most of the plans on the hosting services I’ve seen. If I want to back up my current channel AND keep making videos on a hosting service, it’s not clear if I’d be able to add more storage as needed, let alone be able to afford it. And I don’t even make videos for money - I can only imagine how hard it’d be for creators who rely on videomaking to pay the bills.
#Google knows video hosting is expensive, and that keeps content creators like me tethered to their monopoly. I’d be so much happier if I could just completely cut ties with the company, I would LOVE to have my own website to host all my content, I just don’t know how I can feasibly do that without making myself broke in the process 😩💚

#YouTube is terrible in many ways, here's one you might not have thought about

#StephanieSterling revisits #ThePath, a game that fascinated me way back when.

I'm not convinced it stands the test of time, but then I haven't recently replayed it. It's not exactly a fun game, but it might be relevant and an important piece of art.
Steph also mentions #ThisWarOfMine as the epitome of games that aren't fun but relevant. Totally agree there.
Stephanie Sterling has made a fabulous video ripping apart the Switch 2 and Nintendo, while saying the few things the Switch 2 does properly...
The price hikes for games at a time when things are so uncertain for everyday people simply isn't a wise move. Hell, even Techland is doing a sane thing and keeping Dying Light: The Beast affordable at $59.99 US dollars.
Game Publishers are going to get a rude awakening if they price out the bulk of their audience...Anyway, thank God for Stephanie Sterling, their snark and insight are greatly appreciated!
