This is totally beside the point. The phrase "proprietary software" was chosen as the opposite of "Free Software" for a reason. To drive home the point that the threat to our computing freedoms addressed by libre licensing is the *proprietor* (copyright owner) of the software.

I never thought I'd see the day. The OSI openly gives credit to the FSD and links to it;
"Following the preamble is the definition of Open Source AI, an adaptation of the definition of Free Software (also known as 'the four freedoms') to AI nomenclature."
