Thanks to Death Ray Minis , I have a goodly chunk new support options for Steel Rift.
Very nicely packed. They come with their own bases. You can assemble your own infantry/power armor units for deployment... Very pleasing indeed.
We know exactly how many of you are shocked that I would pick up the heavy tank support troop and airdropped power armor. Hands up? Nobody? That's what I thought.
@lextenebris I see what you mean about the feed. I'll take a gamble and see how my reader handles it, but also am following you here.
My scratch pad notes for a simple trial game at 150T look about as follows:
Jagers (30T) - Reinforced ARM + STR, Autocannon, Rocket Pack, Melee, Ablative Armor, Heavy Reactor, TD
Iguana (20T) - Shot Cannon, Optical Camo, ECM, TD
2x Iguana for Recon, 3x Jager for Fire Support, and some OTS artillery with Authority faction for lots of extra ammo.
@Slyphic While there is an RSS XML file for grimtokens.garden, I will fully admit that it's not the most full-featured or useful RSS feed ever created.
I usually try to post any updates that I make to the garden on Mastodon and my other social media. If you're following me somewhere, odds are you're seeing any time something is added as I go.
Heavy Gear models should convert over pretty nicely, but definitely scale things as appropriate relative to gears rather than in an absolute sense in terms of expected loadouts.
Don't forget that you will be adding on mods to individual gears, and that takes up tonnage. That won't be going into weapons or armor. It's easy to forget that quite a lot of the team system hinges on various mods being in place, though sometimes it gives rebates. Use that to your advantage.

Okay the ORP: Battledroids to Steel Rift Intermediate Starter Kit is finally written. It's certainly not the longest thing I've ever written, but it does have something on the order of over 10,000 words. So it's not a short, breezy thing necessarily.
Flipping through it, I'm fairly proud of the fact that I put together some patches for the infantry and vehicle rules in SR, which make sense. Converted every droid from Battledroids. I even snuck in a three battle mission sequence to give you an excuse to make your own combat forces and teams.
Overall, not a bad piece of work.
Tomorrow I will put together one more read-through just to make sure there's nothing hideously terrible in the copy, and then I'll get it posted. After that, I start thinking about what goes into the ORP: Battledroids to Steel Rift Advanced Starter Kit. I'm pretty sure off the top of my head, I'll introduce factions to cover a couple of the major political divisions in the setting and set up to explain how campaigns work in Steel Rift.
That's going to just wait until I regenerate some neurotransmitters from writing this stuff.
Expect the Intermediate Kit tomorrow, probably before noon Eastern.
@iamgerardthomas I quite like Gamma Wolves, but if you're into that mode of gaming, but would like to see something a little more lightweight, because there are some weirdly crunchy mechanics in Gamma Wolves, check out the game that Ash Barker did after that. Steel Rift. I actually prefer it fairly significantly because it flows a bit better and I don't need the overhead.
I'm pretty sure I cranked out over 4,000 words today on the ORP: Battledroids to Steel Rift Intermediate Kit, which involved actually going to look for clarification on some rules issues on their social media Facebook page, getting into some interesting discussions and then getting directly messaged by the current author/developer of the game, who agreed that I pointed out some valid points, and we talked about things that might be upcoming that will/may address many of them.
That isn't going to keep me from effectively rewriting the parts that were bugging me for my article but... I think that's one of my favorite things about the small press side of the TTRPG / tabletop wargaming hobby.
You can literally be an active force, on little more than a whim, and improve something that other people have real affection for. Hell, I literally got the errata for the errata amended today for something that's been there wrong for several months.
That's not going to happen if you are a D&D or a Warhammer player. Play things that you can actually affect.
I'm pretty thrilled right this moment. I have completed converting all 11 of the mechs in Battledroids into Steel Rift stats. That technically means there will be 12 mechs listed since I threw in the Locust.
Every one of them has some design notes, and I have tested the math in the online build system just to double-check myself. That's not to say there won't be errors, but if there are, so mote it be.
Now I just have to write the rest of the Intermediate Kit and the scenario.
