2. #SteamworldHeist2
Beaten : Almost
Playtime : 46h (roughly 10 of which is a separate playthrough)
Steamworld Heist but MORE
My pitch: Worms trickshot Xcom the game 2
So much customizability that let you build your broken or very specifically counterpicked team of steambots ready for smash and grab boarding missions
Compared to 1:
I had high expectations and they were met!
Also, overworld is much more involved and is a minigame in itself
My general recommendation though is to grab the first game cheap and see if you like it, it goes dirt cheap all the time
Endgame is HAAARD though and we tried to rush into it now I'll have to grind a bit first probably.

Thunderful Games, developer and publisher of the SteamWorld games, has announced a hefty number of layoffs at the company, with 80-100 people losing their jobs.
Looking like the #WildBastards reviews are a little all over the place.
I was excited to grab this, but it seems like they've committed a similar mistake that #SteamWorldHeist2 did a few months back with not fully understanding what made the OG game so special to so many.
I'll still play it, but this will likely be a late year scramble-for-GOTY game or a 'Gonna grab this on sale' sort of game.
It does clean the slate a little though.
I think I'm calling it for my time with #SteamworldHeist2.
It's not a bad game at all, but I'm not sure I'm in love with the direction they've taken the sequel.
Everything is bigger and less linear. I like linear, linear is safe and relatively undemanding.
I can't remember the first game having alarms and constantly spawning enemies (seriously, like 2 new enemies per turn at times).
All in all I feel like I've got a solid 10 hours out of it, and I'm going to quit whilst I'm ahead.
Bit baffled by the #SteamworldHeist2 reviews if I'm honest.
Now for context I've put some six hours into it over the last three nights, and I've enjoyed that time.
Anyway..I've just checked some reviews and many outlets are saying it's a 30+ hr campaign.
Now I enjoyed the first game, I probably clocked 15 hours with it. It definitely lost some of its magic towards the end...
In short; I cannot fathom wanting to play 35 hours of this game. And honestly, it's putting me off going back.
