Cinque anni per il camionista che il 4 agosto del 2025 tamponò un’ambulanza in coda nall’A1 causando tre morti: l’uomo, Fabio M., 59 anni, autotrasportatore ligure di Savona – secondo l’accusa – era impegnato a girare dei video per Tik Tok mentre al volante. Con il patteggiamento della pena si è conclusa la vicenda giudiziaria il conducente accusato di omicidio stradale plurimo aggravato dalla “colpa cosciente”. Ovvero l’uomo poteva prevede che potesse innescare un incidente mortale con la sua distrazione, ma avrebbe confidato che non sarebbe successo. Invece l’ambulanza fu ridotta a un ammasso di lamiere.
Il camionista si trovava nell’A1 tra le uscite le uscite di Arezzo e Valdarno in nord. Nel traffico c’era anche un’ambulanza – la Misericordiosa di Terranuova Bracciolini – che trasportava le tre vittime: Franco Lovari, il paziente 75enne che quel giorno veniva trasferito per controlli cardiaci, Gianni Trappolini, autista di 56 anni, e Giulia Santoni, una studentessa di infermieristica 23enne. Poi intorno alle 11.30, lo schianto: il tir colpì l’ambulanza a 100 chilometri all’ora. Fin da subito non c’erano stati dubbi sulla dinamica dell’incidente. Alla Polizia Stradale era bastato esaminare il materiale video raccolto durante le indagini per constatare come l’uomo stesse guidando in cabina tra le varie riprese social.
Uno dei fattori di cui si è tenuto conto durante il rito alternativo è stata l’incensuratezza del 56enne, l‘alcol test negativo e il versamento di una somma economica ai parenti delle vittime. La giudice del tribunale di Arezzo, Giulia Soldini, ha pertanto accolto la proposta di patteggiamento dell’avvocato del camionista, Massimo Rabagliati e del sostituto procuratore di Arezzo Giorgio Martano.

Five years for the truck driver who collided with an ambulance in a queue on the A1 on August 4, 2025, causing three deaths: the man, Fabio M., 59 years old, a Ligurian truck driver from Savona – according to the prosecution – was filming videos for TikTok while driving. With the plea bargain, the legal proceedings concluded with the driver accused of aggravated multiple vehicular homicide due to “conscious negligence.” That is, the man could have foreseen that he could trigger a fatal accident with his distraction, but he would have trusted that it would not happen. Instead, the ambulance was reduced to a pile of metal.
The truck driver was on the A1 between the exits of Arezzo and Valdarno in north. There was also an ambulance – the Misericordiosa of Terranuova Bracciolini – transporting the three victims: Franco Lovari, the 75-year-old patient who that day was being transferred for cardiac checks, Gianni Trappolini, a 56-year-old driver, and Giulia Santoni, a 23-year-old nursing student. Around 11:30 a.m., the crash: the truck hit the ambulance at 62 mph. There were immediately no doubts about the dynamics of the accident. The Highway Police only needed to examine the video material collected during the investigation to see how the man was driving in the cab, with various social media clips.
One of the factors considered during the alternative trial was the driver’s lack of a criminal record, the negative alcohol test, and the payment of a sum of money to the families of the victims. Judge Giulia Soldini of the Arezzo court therefore accepted the plea bargain proposed by the truck driver’s lawyer, Massimo Rabagliati, and the Arezzo public prosecutor Giorgio Martano.
