ÉricMSM🇧🇪🥾🚆🚊🌼🐑🐞📷🇫🇷 Le Buste de Karl Marx dans sa maison natale à Trier (Trèves-DE) qui est aussi un musée à ne pas manquer si vous veniez à visiter cette ville aux multiples vestiges romains antiques.
Ce que j'ai retenu de cette visite faite il y a longtemps déjà : c'est que la pensée de Marx a été (et est toujours) dévoyée par des dictateurs sanguinaires qui maintenaient (maintiennent) les peuples dans l'asservissement alors qu'une élite vivait (vit) dans l’opulence toute occidentale! 🇬🇧 The Bust of Karl Marx in his birthplace in Trier (DE) which is also a must seen museum if you come to visit the city where many ancient Roman remains can be seen.
What I learned from this visit made a long time ago: it is that Marx's thought was (and still is) misguided by bloodthirsty dictators who kept (maintain) people in enslavement while an elite lived (lives) in entirely Western opulence! (my opinion)

"Der Fall Daidalos und Ikaros" von Rolf Scholz (1985). Diese #Skulptur, die #OttoLilienthal zeigt, stand erst im Flughafen Tegel und wurde mit in den #BER umgezogen. Flugpionier Lilienthal baute etliche Flugapparate und glitt damit immer höher, schneller und weiter. 1896 aber brach er sich beim Absturz mit einem seiner Apparate das Genick – nach rund 2.000 erfolgreichen Flug- bzw. Gleitversuchen.

The #sculpture depicts Otto Lilienthal, the German "father of aviation," who built a series of gliders and pushed the boundaries of flight – gliding further, higher, and faster – until he broke his neck in a hang glider crash in 1896, after around 2,000 successful flight (or rather gliding) attempts.

Triton for #StatueSaturday. He's part of the #Stuhlmannbrunnen fountain in Altona. The massive fountain (7.5 metres (25 ft) tall) was inaugurated in 1900 and depicts two centaurs battling for a fish, surrounded by sea creatures splashing water at them (with Triton among them). The centaurs are said to represent #Altona and #Hamburg, symbolising their rivalry for dominance in the fishing industry. Altona was once the German (and even European) "fishing capital" in the early 20th century and often clashed with neighbouring Hamburg. Imagine the horror of the people of Altona when their independent borough was absorbed into Hamburg in 1938 without prior notice!
By the late 20th century, the fountain had fallen into disrepair and was rarely used due to a lack of funds. It eventually became so damaged that it was closed off entirely. In the 1990s, a deal was struck with a local brewery: they donated funds for its restoration, and in return, they were permitted to cover the Altona Town Hall with beer advertisements for several weeks.
