I've started using #vivaldi for my #google replacement. Have to say I'm impressed with its ability to handle all the plugins (like #paperpile, which doesn't work in google docs on firefox. (I still prefer the #noscript extension on #firefox for most situations.) But what's really impressed me is StartPage, which is the default search that vivaldi is doing.

What is #StartPage and why have I never heard of it before?

StartPage seems to be giving me the old google search --- no AI, finding the actual papers that I was looking for. It's even better than #DuckDuckGo.

I know I am about to commit blasphemy here but I really don't like #duckduckgo. I never get the search results that I want and I find research frustrating. I prefer #startpage. Any reason why I should not use StartPage?

@bms48 Startpage, formerly IxQuick, is as far as I know, still a Dutch search engine, with focus on privacy. Maybe the default in Vivaldy?

#Startpage seems pretty great for a free, ad-driven search engine. This may be the closest thing to Old Google out there.

They are still developing AI stuff though, but it seems to be optional.

Wenn man nach ITler sucht (Person die sich mit IT auskennt), wird bei vielen Suchmaschinen Hitler angezeigt. Einige zeigen bei der Websuche noch korrekte Treffer an. Fast alle zeigen bei der Bildersuche Hitler.
