#starbucks just announced they're closing the 12th and Denny location in #seattle . (Link below)
This is what #unionbusting looks like. This is #classwar .

Citing "safety concerns" ("police don't respond to this location quickly enough", they claim, unpersuasively), the megacorp based in Seattle is going after one of the first locations to #Unionize . It's not coincidence. It's pretext.

Here's how this #rightwing union busting strategy works in Seattle. Starbucks can unilaterally dissolve the unionized workforce at this location by blaming the liberals for defunding the police. They'll say: "Inconvenienced by having to drive a little further for your latte? Here is who to blame: the disgruntled pink haired baristas who hate working there, the fat cat union bosses who want a cut of the action, the black masks may day crowd who make the city unsafe, or the liberal dummies who run city hall and don't care about law and order. (No, Starbucks is not to blame)." They've leveraged the national culture war to really hit hard.

Many will see through it. Its bullshit, of course. But a critical mass won't. The company can muddy the waters enough to save face as they save a couple bucks and avoid the bargaining table. And they'll win the bigger victory by setting a terrible precedent. Act up and you'll get axed, one way or another. They just can't tolerate democracy at the workplace.

For the rest of us, the way forward is to call out this affront to human dignity and stand in solidarity with the workers at Starucks. #starbucksunion #StarbucksWorkersUnited #StarbucksWorkers #StarbucksWorkersUnion
