Schade… hatte ich gar nicht sooo grottig in Erinnerung. Aber dass Film der schlechteste von der kompletten Serie ist, ist unter #trekkie s Konsens.

This is just as the show goes to commercial. Back then, they didn't do large, cinematic stuff that tv tries to do now. But they made up for it with stark, shallow frame imagery that has a graphic economy.
They took the time to label his cell, but they didn't take the time to do it well. Odd detail.

Another one I hadn't seen before. Another captivity episode. It didn't do much for me in any but purely visual terms. I don't think I was really in the mood, though.
Avery Brooks is such an orator. He recites every line of dialogue as if he's reading an audiobook. (Not always a compliment.)
I have such a powerful inclination to just keep going with DS9 now. I know not all episodes are as fun as this one. But I miss it nonetheless.
I can't believe Bashir was trying to find a pretext to sleep with his grandmother. Like, he’s saying 1) she couldn’t have slept with anyone else but himself in her whole life, 2) he’s fine with being his own grandfather if he can sleep with her, and 3) the part about sleeping with his grandmother doesn’t even bother him.
God, this must have been so much fun for lighting, costuming, and set crews. Look at this grate.
Not that the costumes in DS9 weren't completely absurd at times, but for some reason seeing the TOS costumes referenced in DS9 makes them look even wilder.
DS9 s05/e06
They do such a good job of mimicking the brighter TOS light (and all the set details, for that matter). I think they even darken the non-Enterprise stuff for contrast.
What a cheap looking set, though. Oof.
