Cedar County community leaders are collaborating once again to host a No Kings assembly at the Cedar County Courthouse and take a public stand for peace, liberty, and constitutional government.
Americans across the political spectrum are increasingly concerned about the direction of our country. Recent military actions and expanding foreign conflicts raise serious questions about whether these wars serve the interests of the American people. Many citizens believe these conflicts risk American lives without clear justification.
At the same time, many Americans are alarmed by broader threats to democratic institutions and civil liberties— including growing executive power, expanding surveillance technologies, and policies that undermine constitutional checks and balances.
Across the country, people are speaking up because they believe the United States was founded on a simple principle: no kings. No leader is above the Constitution, and the power of government must always be accountable to the people.
This peaceful demonstration is an opportunity for citizens—regardless of party—to stand together for the principles that unite us:
• Peace and restraint in foreign policy
• Protection of civil liberties and privacy
• Respect for elections and democratic institutions
• The constitutional limits on executive power
When war is waged and power expands in our name, it is our moral obligation and patriotic duty to speak up.
