My Dad was a postie, for 37 years before he retired and cancer caught him.

It was way more than a job. There were some old folk on his round who'd only have contact with him.

He routinely checked in on them, changed lightbulbs, grabbed bits from the shops, collected post from those who couldn't get out.

I earned more as a 17yr old at Sainsburys than he did after 20yrs, paid a pittance but loved his job #StandByYourPostie #StandByYourPost

Eight-hour shifts, to be completed in a Royal Mail vehicle, have been advertised on Ryde, a “last-mile” delivery business backed by venture capitalists. The in-app shift description on Ryde makes no mention of the fact that the available shifts are to break a strike by postal workers. #StandByYourPostie
