The #StampAct was passed on #ThisDayInHistory in 1765 by the British parliament. It never went into effect. The idea of charging a fee for printing was so odious it sparked massive #DirectAction & #terrorism including hangings in effigy of stamp sellers and burning of buildings.

The #StampAct was repealed #OnThisDay in 1766.
