Two things that a so prematurely-warm "spring" taught me, today.

• My #staffy is a lot more trainable than he likes to let on

• I didn't have to explicitly train him to associate Mister Softee's music with the arrival of tasty dog treats.

It was up in the 80s, today. Apparently, warm enough — in combination with three other +80° spells thus far this year — that Mister Softee made their first foray into our neighborhood. Normally, not something that happens till May.

It wasn't my hearing the jangly music that drew my attention. It was, "why the hell are you losing your mind, Gryff," that alerted me that something was up. Once I quieted him down, I began to hear what had set him off. Apparently, by the end of last season, he'd come to associate with Mister Softee music with a high value treat (link is relevant).

So, I put on my slippers, grabbed my phone and tracked down the ice cream truck so I could get him his first Pup Cup of the season.
