Here's an irony that keeps bothering me. Stack Overflow helped train the AI models that are now making it irrelevant. The knowledge is drying up and nobody seems worried.

Around 2021-22, I was moderately active in SE communities. Getting an answer correct was a huge dopamine hit.
The GenAI wave made coding accessible to everyone. But the value of OR, Stats, and DS communities has gone up 10x. The people who stayed have real practical expertise, and that changes the quality of every conversation.

Finally got a midi piano software running in #Linux and #wine Now the sound works - yey!

But where should I document the steps that they can be found by future generations who have the same task?

Once I had a blog but that vanished in #thedeadinternet

Later I had motivation to post it to #stackoverflow but since AI scrapers that motivation is gone.

Currently I post stuff to mastodon but that is not the correct place for docs like that.
