If St. Jude's only spent the money lobbying for Universal Healthcare, instead of tear-jerker ads about kids dying of cancer, we would have Universal Healthcare by now, though St. Jude's would get far less funding, and would have a harder time proselytizing.
If people were materially taken care of by the government, we would not have to sit in the unsavory company of religious proselytizers.
If religious charities ( like St. Jude's ) spent the money they do on tear-jerker ads about children dying of cancer, on lobbying for Universal Healthcare instead, we would have Healthcare by now. But then they would not be able to raise tax-free money for their gangsta city state piled with looted riches, led by another old white man in a dress telling people not to be gay.
