If interested in sprint car racing like I am, you have to bookmark this site I just found today.

This guy must be a stats junkie, because this site's info goes on for-EV-er. It's like the pages they used to have in the daily papers showing every conceivable baseball statistic, except this is for all the sprint car and midget divisions. Easy to search by driver, track, series, everything.

Site is not pretty, but highly functional.

Back when I was growing up, we spent many Saturday nights at Fresno's Kearney Bowl watching the "hardtops" race.

One of these vintage cars is shown here, alongside a modern 410 sprint car.

There are plenty of similarities to these old and new cars. The aerodynamics (wings), 900HP engine packages, tires and various suspension components of 410 sprint cars have all seen many improvements over the decades.

Still, go fast, turn left works same as always.

If you are following me for the sprint car posts, here's one you might enjoy:

Tonight is the finale ($75K to win) of the National Open at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, PA.

The reason the racing there is always exciting is that the track is a "paper clip" design, meaning very long straightaways and super tight corners.

You can see that in this Google Sat photo. The cars really get moving on those long straights, and then have to hook it hard thru the corners.

18YO Ryan Timms wins the 64th #KnoxvilleNationals in a stellar flag-to-flag run. At times he was 4 sec. in front of P2 Carson Macedo.

Thru several restarts, Timms nailed his lead every time, each time walking the field to pull several seconds out in front. This is unheard of with this much talent in the field in the biggest race of the year for $195K to win.

Massive speed, a perfect setup, and a flawless run. He'll be a serious contender in what should be a long career.

Big national shout-out on Facebook to Jacksonville, Oregon's Tanner Holmes and the beautiful 18T from the national World of Outlaws media team. He is in what is called the "Hard Knox" show tonight, a full format show with P1 thru P4 in the A main locking into the $195,000-to-win Nationals feature Saturday.

I say it was that incredible paint scheme (OK, technically a wrap) that caught their attention so they highlighted him. Great for national exposure.

To celebrate Kings Royal Week at #Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, #Ohio, I have switched up my random desktop backgrounds on my #MacbookPro to show only pit shots of some #WorldofOutlaws winged #sprintcars.

This is the No. 17 of Bill Balog. He's a hard charger, but one of the smaller teams on the national stage. Crashed hard a couple of days ago in a turn 1 six-car wreck, but it appears they have it back together to chase the $200,000 to win Kings Royal 30-lap race tonight.

For the 2 people on here that might care about this, I am now listening to the World of Outlaws sprint cars Dirtvision audio from Knoxville (Iowa) Raceway.

Live video on Dirtvision is $299/yr, but the live audio is free. Kinda like radio. You remember radio? Used to come over-the-air, now online. Also have Dirtvision's app, so I can hit the treadmill soon as the fastest drivers on dirt head towards the feature. Giovanni Scelzi (from Fresno) just won heat 4. C feature next.

ARB Warrnambool International Sprintcar Carnival – The Race Torque

I am super stoked to be getting closer to a trip to Cali to see the #WorldOfOutlaws #sprintcars at Kings Speedway in Hanford. It is my annual trip to get dirty, smell the racing fuel, and watch drivers with balls of steel try to wrangle 900HP in a super light chassis around a third-mile track while staying sorta kinda in control.

And Kyle Larson’s schedule shows him in PA that weekend, so maybe the other drivers have a chance LOL. My money is always on the #2 of David Gravel.
