'In January 2019, some of the worlds best street artists transformed some grey city walls into colourful masterpieces as part of the Street Prints Manaia, International Art Festival. 15 incredible murals based on the theme “Tui ate muka Tangata – Weaving the Thread of Humanity”.

This artwork was created by Lisa King from Adelaide, Australia. A photo of "Aunty Carm" can be seen clutched in Alex's hands at the bottom of the painting.

Lisa described her mural: "The brief for this festival was 'Weaving the Threads of Humanity'. The response was to build a portrait of my partner, Jarrad Jackson's father Alex Herewane who has strong Maori blood but also houses indigenous Australian roots. Thus, the perfect human for the weaving of the threads and the interconnection of the people of the lands, both Polynesian and Indigenous Australian together in unity as one.

"Alex's very proud Maori sister 'Aunty Carm' passed away unexpectedly three months ago and so it felt right to build a piece where I could bring a little bit of her back to the Homelands. This one's for you beautiful Herewanes."' @streetartcities

La série des bouquets résulte de la rencontre avec @lamaisonvlaminck lors de l’exposition « Fleurs et Bouquet » en mai 2024 à Rueil-la-Gadelière.

J’y ai découvert la peinture de Vlaminck avec des touches de peinture denses, puissantes et des motifs floraux très expressionnistes. Sur les conseils de @brumeparole , je me suis ensuite immergé dans les années fauves du peintre, cette période du début du XXème siècle au cours de laquelle la peinture se libère, les couleurs explosent et les sensations prennent le dessus sur le réalisme du sujet.

Ainsi immergé dans l’histoire de l’art, la série des bouquets marque une évolution dans mon langage pictural : des couleurs plus franches, des contours bleus affirmés, une structure simplifiée où le motif floral devient prétexte à la couleur.

Chaque tableau est une conversation entre matière, son et émotion, catalysée par la musique de @brumeparole : un art total.
