Spoon Benders is a psychedelic garage punk band that incorporates a number of '70s era elements into their music. This is particularly prominent in their debut album, 2020's Dura Mater, where the band approaches the classic hard rock sound with the enthusiasm of a kid in a candy store, adopting many of the idioms of the period. They then carry all those fuzzy guitars, big solos, and dark riffs over to their next album, How Things Repeat (2023), which finds the band making an overt move towards psychedelia while maintaining their core garage style. The result is a kind of music that comes across as somewhere between Tame Impala and bands like The Osees or Hot Garbage. There is also a touch of glam in their music, which rounds out their semi-retro mystique and charm.
