This arrived in the mail yesterday.

A #souvenir #penknife marking #Lindbergh’s solo non-stop #flight across the #Atlantic.

The seller sold it “as is” because it was impossible to open the blades.

I pulled it out of its bag, & using my thumb nail, easily opened both blades, first try.

Hmmm. I’m not super handy, so I’m left to wonder how he tried to open the blades.

Worth next to nothing as so many were sold & are still about. It just caught my eye on #eBay. #SpiritOfStLouis

#OnThisDay, May 21, in 1927, pilot Charles Lindbergh landed the Spirit of St. Louis in Paris, becoming the first person to make a solo transatlantic flight (depicted in The Spirit of St. Louis, 1957)
