AlexStrekeisen.it (run by Alessandro Da Mommio) has some beautiful thin section images of titanite:

Repost from last year:
I've seen sphene! (Sounds better than "the rock is tippsy with titanite")

Centimeter-size black sphene (titanite) with apatite (dark brown) and orthoclase feldspar (light brown). Folding pocket knife for scale.

From the Bancroft locality in Ontario, Canada. Grenville-aged (~1.2Β± billion years)

Driving in my truck right after a beer
Hey, that bump is shaped like a sphere
DUI?
How about you die?
I'll go a hundred miles
An hour!

Little do you know, I filled up on gas
Imma get your dome-making ass
Pulverize this fuck
With my Tural truck
It seems you're out of luck!
TRUCK!

(this is why gulool ja ja was killed off halfway through, he would've dealt with sphene himself)

Requiem aeternam dona ets, Domine,

(aka i am thinking very hard about alcides's alexandrian shard again)

A titanite lozenge imaged both using a cellphone through the microscope ocular, and with a proper imaging system. It's surrounded mostly by quartz (+feldspar).

Likely from the Grenville, but from a teaching collection two generations of retired professors ago.

Although #lawsonite can have competition from #titanite (#sphene) and #epidote in blueschists, in eclogites and other high-pressure rocks, lawsonite rules the trace elements. It can contain most or all of the uranium, lead, thorium, and strontium, as well as buckets of rare earth elements (figure from Lithos 370-371, 2020, 105636). #MinCup23
