@emilianosandri @CatAClock @Daojoan the nice part about #Mumble is that it works excellent as #VoiceChat, with both #narrowband (down to #Codec2 @ 1200bt/s) and HQ (#Opus) and OFC low-latency (#Speex) being supported.

• In fact one can even integrate it with #SIP-based #VoIP to enable call-in via #Phone and it has all the nice features of #TeamSpeak whilst being #SelfHosting-capable & #FLOSS!

@ustralien and even then:

Modern #Codecs like #Speex and espechally #Opus really work great on #Mumble and other solutions like #WebCall and #SIP-Clients like #Linphone.

• Unless you're stuck on #Iridium, then #Codec2 is the only thing narrowband-efficient enough to work at all...

@herrorange Already existing options do that better than the old #SILK codec.

• #Linphone (#SIP client) supports #Opus & #Speex, which can do better at narrower bandwiths)

• #Codec2 OFC can work even on #Iridium-level bandwiths

• #Mumble, #WebCall & #JitsiMeet also do fine on #Skype-able bandwiths and don't require a T H I C C install on peoples' devices...

@getimiskon That being said there's nothing wrong using #GIMP and I'd rather use that than to ever give #Adobe or #AVID money.

• Not to mention #piracy isn't an option in any #commercial setup when courts already decided that using pirated Software will result in the copyrights being de-jure transfered to the Software Licensor in lieu of licensing payments...

So yeah, I do want to see #Linux ports of #Affinity's Suite and #Blackmagicdesign to step up their Support of #DavinchiResolve for Linux outside of #CentOS & #RHEL Workstation and at least on the #paid version get #FeatureParity to the #macOS & #Windows version in terms of #Codecs (or at least implement support for those not subject to #licensing like #AV1, #VP9 / #WebM & #Opus, #Vorbis & #Speex.
