After watching Sparks Brothers, I came away with the impression that Sparks had never made a bad album, so i took a trial subscription to Qobuz to test that notion.
I'm now on "Introducing Sparks" and while that and the previous one "The Big Beat" are weaker overall, I still find them enjoyable. There's a constant throughline of Sparks-ness that I like even as by that time, the original formula is clearly worn out.

Got to meet the legendary Ron & Russell Mael of Sparks last night in Philadelphia at the Non-COMMvention.
Still innovating, still weird, still wonderful.

I did! That was awesome. He looked so happy to see them get the love and adoration they deserve. It's like he was thinking "Yes! Finally! People get what I've seen in them for the last thirty years!"
And yes, he is allowed to take a little of the credit for the success they've had in the last few years. His documentary #Sparksbrothers introduced them to a whole new appreciative audience.
