Compiling old games on my #sparcstation . Mirror Magic II from 1994 already works, even with audio! I remembered the plain old Linux sound interface is compatible to #Solaris‘. This game originally was ported from the Amiga and still is super enjoyable. I was able to obtain the 1.0 source code from a very early Linux pre-distro code archive.
The original author still enhances it continuously by adding more play modes:

Someone's old Sun SPARCstation IPX fan page I ran across today, randomly.
I love old pages like this.

Ok, here's the blog post!
If you've wanted to party like it's 1994 and experience life on planet #Unix _before_ Solaris, why not try a bit of #RetroComputing and try #SunOS 4 on an emulated #SPARCstation 5? https://apintandaparma.club/cos/falling-down-a-rabbit-hole-of-nostalgia-episode-1-sunos-4
Falling down a rabbit hole of nostalgia, episode 1 - SunOS 4
(or: running SunOS 4 on an emulated SPARCstation in 2025 with QEMU 10.1.) [...]

Trying to remember a unix gag from the early 90s. You could send a command to someone else's terminal and a little guy would appear on screen and slowly push the whole thing off your monitor. If you knew what was up, you could kill the process, but if not, you'd be locked out. I'd swear this was called "Ferkle", but I can't find anything mention of this anywhere. This was on a Sun SPARCstation, I believe.
Anyone?
