Tim Sheerman-ChaseA little bit of #LocalHistory : The Battle of Southsea was a series of riots over 4 days in August 1874 over access to a section of #Southsea beach. Earlier in 1874, the Clarence Pier Company attempted to connect Clarence Pier to the nearby Assembly Rooms effectively closing public access to the beach between the pier and the Hot Walls in Old Portsmouth. Son of Music ClubA fine cultural evening of instrumental mellifluousness at the Wedge last night; gloriously wonky tweaked beats courtesy of Secret Self, elegiac looped strings from violinist/violist Marina Moore and, to headline, the dark, ambient electronica of Warrington-Runcorn New Town Development Plan (which is one the best band names of recent times).
With each set was complemented by animated visuals I could enjoy the mesmerising images alongside the music or, by closing my eyes, enjoy the soundtrack to the movie in my mind.
