Timeline cleanse moment… Garden path along our deer-fenced family garden in #SouthernOregon #PNW

Nice day in the Rogue Valley. Regular winds have cleared the atmosphere & Spring is in full bloom. We’re busy in our deer-fenced garden; weeding, planting, tending to existing plants & drip systems, fending off an army of ground squirrels…the usual. In addition to routine Spring chores on rural #PNW acreage; mowing the pasture, beating back invasive blackberries, tending to the chickens, pigs and goat. Two shots attached: The Rogue Valley from my back porch veranda; and, a shot from said veranda down to our deer-fenced garden. More to come as the season progresses.

NOTE: I should express my recognition and gratitude for the privilege of living in abundance and beauty on colonized Native American land. I also am mindful of the relative safety, security and peace of my surroundings, when many in the world are not safe, secure and at peace. I continue to keep the people of Ukraine, Gaza and Sudan in my thoughts and on my boost list, and I donate when I can afford to.

Beautiful afternoon in Southern Oregon’s #RogueValley today. But it is February and it really shouldn’t look like this or be over 60 degrees. For #SouthernOregon this is the winter that wasn’t, and that is concerning. I’m really worried about what summer fire season will bring with our rainfall totals and snow pack well below normal. #Oregon #Winter #Climate
It’s finally raining in the #PNW. My region of #SouthernOregon has been experiencing the ‘winter that wasn’t’ for months. Above average temps, and NO moisture other than morning fog. I mean, we’re known for our rain - and until now, it just hasn’t been falling. Our snow pack is miserably way below average. Mt. Ashland, our local ski resort has not been able to open at all this season. I fear for the inevitable upcoming summer fire season. Everything is going to be so dry, and our summer winds will make matters worse. My family has been reducing fuels on our 8 acre patch, creating defensible spaces, for a while now, but there’s still much more to go. #Oregon #WildFires #GlobalWarming #ClimateChange #environment

Late Fall fog has descended on the Rogue Valley in Southern Oregon. Days of valley fog, blanketing everything in wet, white mist. We can barely see our neighbors, let alone the valley floor. Our usually expansive view has been reduced to about 50 feet of visibility. Heat’s on, music is turned up, and we’re playing with the cats. #PNW #Oregon #CountryLife #SouthernOregon
