Less-snowy pictures from the Cascade Saddle day. #SouthernAlps

I have processed all of my Cascade Saddle pictures, although I did the last set on May 1, so that'll be part of the June thread. Maybe I'll also finish some other mountain pictures for that thread. The archives are endless.

I did write a modest photos post for March & April:

https://patricklam.ca/post/20260501-march-april-photos/

It's mostly pictures from Cascade Saddle in February 2026, but includes random other pictures from the archives across Aotearoa and some from the Eastern Townships outside Montréal.

Am on the last set of pictures from the Cascade Saddle. In order of confidence: Mount Aspiring/Tititea; Mount Avalanche; ??. All from the same viewpoint and I can see the unknown peak in the background and sort of to the right of Plunket Dome. Also close to where I had that Mount Maori picture earlier. #SouthernAlps
Flying to Queenstown and renting a car would have been super expensive when we were buying tickets, so we flew to Christchurch instead. I think that saved us $$$$. I don't love the extra driving, but we did get great views of Aoraki both ways. /fin #SouthernAlps

Some mountain landscapes from the track. There are still glaciers today, at least.

I was doing some research on glacier names. Apparently there was a proposed name change, mostly correcting spelling mistakes, which was rejected by the minister last year. Looks dumb to me, but maybe that's par for the course for Chris Penk.

Here are some more views mostly from the Cascade Saddle walk, including Mount Māori (thanks for the id!), a tarn with tufts, and a silty stream. #SouthernAlps #tramping
We went from Raspberry Creek to Aspiring Hut and then over the Cascade Saddle to Dart Hut, finishing with the Rees Track and seeing takahē. There are a couple of pictures I've posted before. #SouthernAlps #BirdsNZ
