#TxDOT would like you to know that they in fact do freeway removals. In this case, the conversion of S M Wright Freeway to Boulevard, in #SouthDallas.
Now, one can argue that the "boulevard" is still 6β7 lanes wide, that they turned US 175 into an elevated highway in the process, and that S M Wright was a dumb urban highway to begin with, running parallel as it does to I-45 and being largely redundant.
But they are adding 12' shared-use paths on either side, which is nice.
