Yeah, I was a telephone co service rep for 27 years. Yeah, we laughed at you guys. We had morning meeting at 8. A group of mostly gay reps acted out conversations we printed out from our calls. Like, the funeral home dug up my Mothers body and left it on my porch SO I CAN'T PAY MY BILL. #SouthCentralBell Miss you guys. #MidCity. #JeffDavisPkwy
As a child, 60s, my bro and I had perfect school attendance. My parents always made sure we went to school. We were lucky; we were healthy. As an adult, I, of course, also had perfect attendance at my job. EVERY day, get up, go to work. My employer said I should come to work during a hurricane, during a flood. My employer demanded we stay at work the day before a Cat 5 Katrina hit. Yeah, they then gave me 2 weeks with pay after my house was flooded. #SouthCentralBell #CWA Now they have canceled my #HRA

Back when. They told me I was an essential worker. I had to find a way to work in a flood. I worked in the "business office." #SouthCentralBell #CWA
Bells and lights. Why this came to mind, except I am dwelling on what a habitual person I am. As a #SouthCentralBell #ServiceRep in 1975, we had that. There was a huge board mounted on the wall in the unit. On our phones were turn-buttons which could "busy out" our phone. So, if one busied out the phone (we had to file records, investigate claims, even go to the restroom) and there were calls waiting, the board would pop with lights flashing and bells ringing. IOW, unbusy your phone and take calls. I wish I had a picture. Over time, a computerized system took over, but by gosh, the bells and lights worked just fine. 😊💕 Yes, the 3 point package was THE goal for N orders and T &F's. In a one bedroom, we were supposed to sell bedroom, kitchen, living room and/or bathroom. 🤣☎☎📞

I was about 15 years after this, as far as joining the work force. Mfg, how hard it was for these young women - - 1960. Otoh, I am grateful to have worked for a huge corporation that paved the way for all women/LG. Yes, disparage all you want. Back then, it was a path. Yeah, they wanted the workers, they needed people. Women/gay guys were IT. You weren't there--- you don't get it. #SouthCentralBell

Years ago, worked for large corp. 19th floor of downtown building. #CanalPlace . We worked holidays, #SkeletonCrew , maybe 5 people. Our manager drove all the way, from his house, 30 miles, on #Christmas day to bring us a batch of canoles. What a sweet man. #SouthCentralBell #Bellsouth
